ARISI PARUPPU SAADHAM(LENTIL RICE)

An origin of Coimbatore, Arisi Paruppu Saadham lies somewhere between Sambar saadham and tomato rice. It is one of the simplest and wholesome rice recipes, which can be done in one pot/cooker. With very little or no masala, this rice tastes best with cut mango/avakkai pickle, papad, or simply curd.

Green chilly(slit) 1no

Garlic cloves(optional) 4nos

Red chilly powder 1tsp

Garam masala 1tsp

Turmeric powder 1/2tsp

Asafoetida Apinch

Mustard seeds 1tsp

Chana dhal/Bengal gram 1tsp

Urad dhal 1tsp

Jeera 1/2tsp
